I spent about an hour behind the wheel of a 2011 SRX today and boy did I hate it. It has the 3.0 liter V6 making extremely under powered horsepower and like no torque.
Blind Spots: 1/10
The A-Pillar can hide a small car/motorcycle and is one massive blind spot. I found myself having to crane myself in every direction to get a good view around it. The D pillar was more horrible, if that’s possible. The view out the back window might as well not be there. Merging in this car is horrible because you can’t see anything in your titanic sized blind spot.
Brakes: 4/10
They’re stiff and somewhat vague. Minimal braking doesn’t really work as braking and stopping force is hard to find, which was somewhat surprising. Originally, I thought that there must be something wrong with the brakes, but NOPE.
Acceleration: 2/10
It’s absolutely horrible, there’s exactly zero pickup and you need half throttle to actually get the car moving-ish. Once you’re on a hilly country road it’s damn near impossible to get up to speed without either flooring it. 1/4th to 2/4ths throttle is more or less a dead zone. Nothing happens there unless you hold it for a couple decades. The engine note is loud and very shrill. The best way of describing the 3.0 is that it’s like experiencing turbo lag without the turbo. If you plan on overtaking anybody, then that sucks. You won’t. It takes about 6 seconds to go from 55-75 on a slight incline.
Transmission: 3/10
It either takes itself up to 4k on a flat road, or ends up randomly shifting into first on a slight incline. It’s never quite where you want it to be. It’s jerky and doesn’t automatically rev match well. It consistently picked the wrong gear to shift into and the amount of power that was freed up by doing that was pure crap.
Steering: 2/10
It’s numb and vague, overly heavy and it doesn’t actually feel like you’re steering the car but instead churning butter or something.
Being a passenger in it? 9/10. Driving it? 3/10. It’s a good car for somebody who doesn’t like driving much, but not a good car if driving is one of your passions.
My conclusion? Give me my fucking A6.

For the record, you really let me down when you got an A6 instead of the Allroad.

Ack, 3.0 V6. Why the fuck it took so long to get the 3.6 in the Thetas, I don't know. Especially when the Vue was using it in 2000-fucking-8.

Let me explain myself.
I needed a quick, clean car. I scored a new job and needed something a little bit newer and with less miles than my A4 has and I needed it quickly. I looked into manual Allroads, but came up dry. There honestly just aren’t any clean ones out there with manual transmission. Trust me I looked. That’s what led me to the A6, I found a very low mileage manual one and couldn’t help but pounce.

It’s a shit show driving with that engine.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.... :(
For what it’s worth, in spite of them being quite abundant here, all the ones for sale are also basically all automatic. If your A6 is a stick, I’ll allow it.

The funny thing is that it makes more horsepower than the 2008 3.6 did. But it’s so high up in the rev band ( 7000rpm for horsepower, 5100rpm for torque) it’s totally useless .
Now compare that to max torque at like 2100 RPM in the 3.6.

Wait! What? You bought an A6? How did I miss that?

Trust me man, I really did search the East Coast for an Allroad in my budget in good condition with manual transmission. I came up dry and found something that I could turn into the car of my dreams, hey I may even make an Allroad sedan!
Also, it’s a six speed :)

Haha, it’s that 2.7t thing I was talking about.
BY THA WAY, I need a window regulator for it. pls halp.

My mother has a 3.0 Gen-2 Equinox and I feel the same way. GM claims it makes about 265 HP, but I’m trying to find it.
The whole car is just sluggish, I wish it had the 3.6.

The SRX is also a pretty heavy car with a small engine. That’s never a good combination. I’m just pissed that there was no V8 option.

He kept dropping teaser posts until like 5 people managed to guess what it was. Botched reveal :D

265 horsepower my fckin ass. If I were to guess, it would make 150.

Heaviest two-row crossover GM sells. Yet it has the same engine as the normal, lighter Theta crossovers rather than a more powerful version.
They need to replace it. Bad. Thank god it appears 2016 is the last year.

More like 1.50 amirite up top

I guess I caught that but was waiting for a reveal. I didn’t know they made a manual. Killer!
Oh geez. Try Europarts.com.

Agreed.
How slow the car was combined with the numb brakes and steering actually frightened me a little bit. That combined with the amount of blind spots....

I’ve been so busy lately I just missed it.

Busy chopping wood and putting voodoo curses on the A4 no doubt
![]() 09/01/2015 at 22:18 |

Haha, I’m going to reveal it once I begin modifying it. I can arrange something if you want to see it though :P
I’ll try that, thanks. ECS Tuning was trying to charge like $250 or something crazy for one.

It's so weird because that's the exact opposite as I remember the Vue being. That thing was lively and quick and the steering was damn near as communicative as my BMWs. Perks of a hydraulic rack and torquey motor I guess.

That was an interesting weekend for sure. I’m still picking up shit. Work is nuts and I think the Audi is gonna get traded for a new Taco.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 22:23 |

That’s strange. The Vue was also a lighter car which certainly had something to do with it.
Every Audi I’ve gotten behind the wheel of, I’ve felt right at home. With the SRX, it just felt........ wrong.

*girlish scream of anticipation* Welcome back to the winning team!

Fuck that! The part isn’t what’s so problematic. It’s taking the whole door apart.
Yeah I wanna see it.
Just had the chain guides go out on mine. It’s slowly killing me.

Irony is trading a 4runner in to get rid of a payment and getting the Audi, just to trade it in 2 years later for a Taco.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 22:30 |

That’s not irony, that’s called learning... and redemption for getting rid of a 4runner

This is not sounding very fun. It doesn’t make any noise so I’m guessing it isn’t the guides but I’m equally frightened.
Drop me a line at rd333776@gmail.com and I’ll shoot you some pictures and information if you want. I don’t like to post my cars on the internet too much.......

My mom has one. It’s god awful and I hate it. I borrowed it while my Deville was getting new tires, and when I got home I said “Give my fuckin’ Deville keys back.”

I think I had more fun driving an ‘09 Corolla than driving that SRX.

I'd rather die, than drive a fucking SRX.

What were your gripes about the Srx?
![]() 09/02/2015 at 16:49 |

Literally everything except the sound system and interior.
![]() 09/02/2015 at 17:22 |

Agreed.
The exterior styling isn’t horrible except from the interior where everything just transforms into colossal blind spots.

My moms has parking sensors and back up cam, so parking isn't the worst thing ever, but everything else involving driving is:

Yeah, I don’t even want to know how parallel parking would be without the reverse cameras.
